So this is a little trick I learned a long time ago...
... An easy way to hold a carbon rod , they are straight connectors from a conduit canopy frame that were cut in half. The set screws hold the carbon rods. They hold 3/8ths and 1/2 inch easily, 1/4 inch rods only work if you have long enough set screws. I also wrap the end with tape so I can write the alloy type/number on the tape.
